Mark Up with Apple Pencil
On iPad, read a typeset copy of your manuscript and mark it up with Apple Pencil, as you would on paper. Your marks become margin comments on the draft.
- In the ⋯ menu, choose Readers ▸ Mark Up Reading Copy…. Five Rooms typesets a reading copy and records a checkpoint for it.
- Mark the pages with Apple Pencil.
- Choose Add Comments.

Strokes made close together count as one mark. Handwriting is converted to text for the comment, and a picture of your ink is attached to it. Marks never change your text: a strike-through becomes a comment asking for the cut, not a deletion.
To draw with your finger instead, choose Draw with Finger, then scroll with two fingers.
