Five Rooms on iPhone
The iPhone app is a companion for writing on the go. It works on one scene at a time: folders open as a read-only view of the whole chapter, and you select a scene to edit it.
- The rooms run along the bottom of the screen and fade while you type (see Rooms). In Write, the top of the screen names the chapter; Scene opens the scene's synopsis, people and notes as a sheet, and the magnifying glass finds in the text.
- Plan shows the folder's scenes as cards, with the point of view's colour down the edge. Choose a folder to open it, a scene to write it, or Outline for the whole tree; View above the outline chooses which two columns each row shows. The story pages are under Beats ▸ Story.
- On the story pages and in Revise, the button at the top right (People, Checks, From, Checkpoints) opens the page's own list as a sheet. In Revise ▸ Checks, choose an underline and its card rises from the foot.
- The + menu above the contents holds the project's commands: new scenes, templates, find, Publish, Readers, Revision, checkpoints, collections, fields, sharing and the rest. The + above the project list makes and imports projects.
- The house button above the project list opens the Library's Home; Capture below it saves a note to the project's Inbox.
- The bar above the keyboard has italic, bold, a Format menu (underline, small capitals, alignment, lists, colours), a scene break, Split at cursor, Add comment and Mark as style example. In a screenplay, Next element and the Element menu take their place.
- The inspector opens as a sheet when a folder is open.
Composition mode is on Mac and iPad only, and backups are made there; the iPhone lists the backups it can restore. Changes sync to your other devices through iCloud (see iCloud Sync).
